Both very nice - and I wouldn't curse the fog. It helps differentiate these from the "norm".

So I sold my 24-105 f4 to free up some funds and went ahead and purchased the Tamron 17-50 2.8 . Dude this lens does not dissappoint. This bad boy is the best $400 I have spent on a lens. Here are two quick shots of my two kids.

I went ahead and picked up this lens because of this thread, and it is GREAT! Used it around Disneyworld all day today, and the f 2.8 helps so much over the kit lens 3.5!

Optics wise I think they are very close in sharpness. I feel the Canon has slighty cleaner bokeh. The main things I miss with Canon is the focus speed, usm and the extra range. Would I buy the 24-105 again? In a hearbeat.

this lens is pretty dam sharp for what you pay..i like it alot and the 17mm is day and night difference from my old 28-135..
