Well I did it. 300 2.8

BBBUUUTTTTT!!!! Ultra-wides are so much fun and almost 3k cheaper.

Good man! Primes rule. I keep thinking about maybe getting a zoom but then my primes keep pulling me back....."forget the zoom and get a second body," they whisper to me in my sleep...."we're faster....sharper...li​ghter," they say.

I picked up a 300/2.8 last week but have yet to have a chance to really try it out. I'm very much looking forward to seeing what she can do. I guess I'll be keeping the 300/4 for now as it's one of my favorite flower shooters. But it would not surprise me if the 2.8 with a 1.4x or an ET is even better.

How are the three finest 2.8 zooms any slower than a 300 2.8? Focus speed, maybe. Not aperture.

Where exactly is a Canon 300mm 2.8 zoom? I don't know what he sold but if it was the 70-200 2.8 and the 24-70 2.8 Dante went nuts!!!!!!!!

All that tech stuff doesn't matter. Now the kids are running around he needed something longer to shoot them with without having to get out of the deckchair or put down his beer.

Like I said, though, he sold the 16-35L, 24-70L, and 70-200L IS.

i can state unequivocally that he sold the 24-70L.....said i, as i screwed the lens onto my camera ......... .

Yes, All primes. These 3 zooms were just collecting dust. So to be happy, they had to go to finance this new purchase. I am in contract negotiations with a sherpa to walk around with me!

From the man who said he'd just realized how wonderful the 24-70L is and what great colors, contrast, and sharpness he got from it. "Using it more and more". Oh well. Anything to validate a purchase. However, I almost take offense to seeing the 70-200L IS 24-70L and 16-35L called "compromise" lenses. They're no compromise. They're the best of the best.
