You know, dude...I hate to admit it, but if I were you, I'd sell the 17-40, the 135L, and the 70-300 DO IS. Put a bit of money with it, and boom. 300 2.8 L IS. Fun, huh? It'd spank the other lenses for IQ, and it'd be a hell of a lot more fun to use. ;-)a Do it.......do it.

Yeah, I am kinda weird and would like to stay away from lenses slower than 2.8. If I live long enough, they will come out with a 500 and 600 2.8. I can just sense it.

BTW, 50 1.2 is on order with local shop! :)

Would you still use the 300 with TC's to get the reach, considering the "base" of it is still 2.8?

Ron, that's where you and I AGREE completely. I am really surprised at Dante, selling off perhaps the holy trinity of zooms. He should have just raised the price of his cheeseburger, cut the amount of meat in it, and he would have had the dough for the lens in no time, without selling off any.

Dude, no!!! I plan to eat one of those soon, enough. Don't want to become any more poor of a college student, because of food!

Only a true photo nut would spend a fortune on lenses/cameras and complain about the price of burgers. ;)

I keep trying to tell people you don't need an ultra wide for great landscape shots. The proof is in the pudding, right here.

absolutely right. I was browsing a landscape book in the bookshop the other day and everything was shot on a 80-200 lens!!!! Yeah, it was a film camera but still nowhere even as wide as my 28-75 Tamron.

Dante, awesome step. Show us some pics...

Congrats! This is my favourite lens. It's something about it, probably a combination of the great sharpness and bokeh plus the focal length. A few humble samples...

Hence the ;-)a . The second part I'm serious about, though. Those, imo, are the three finest zooms canon makes.
