Thanks! It sure can do even better with a better photographer than I am though. It's a superb lens.

hey dante dont forget your wide end, surely you must add the 14 prime to your collection to round it out. You know i felt sure petkal would have showed up to yell at you for buying a supertele finally... think he would have installed some sort of "dante got a new L" radar by now to catch such things. anyone heard from him?

Hey, DANTE did you get it yet? For goodness sake, I can't take it any longer. Post a picture of it and pictures taken with it.

Ron, that suggestion of selling the 17-40, 70-300DO and 135L makes great sense actually. What do you think they would command dollarwise?

Really? You don't say. Hmm, that's definitely food for thought.

So what you're telling me is that a year and a half ago, when I sold the following:

20D, 28-135IS, 550ex, Canon S900 printer with gobs of extra ink cartridges, all for $1500, I gave away the store?

Stupid question, but is the classified market here the best place to sell them? Is it best to sell them as a group, or individually? I've only sold once on Ebay and with all the fees, it was a big pain and not worth it.

Sorry, DANTEfor hijacking your thread.

you would definitly want to sell the seperatly methinks. not too many people would buy all of them at once. are you really going to let go of the 135 though. *gasp*

Yes, you gave them away. If I were to sell those things, and they were presumably in the best condition possible, as all my gear is, I would set that package at roughly that price. A year ago, you could have gotten at least a couple hundred more just on the 20D. With the extra ink, I'd say at least $1,800.

Yes, sell them here. I've always had awesome luck. I don't recall ever losing money. People buy things from me because mine are mint, sharp, and well cared for. My prices might be a few bucks more than the next guy, but there's a bit of a guarantee with all of the things I've bought and sold here (literally hundreds of items). Prove yourself the same way, and show the condition, and you can get top used dollar. Not to sound conceited, but it's gotten to the point with me that I don't even have to post shots of my stuff...people pay a premium anyway, because they know.

I recall him saying once that he was sorely let down by the low light performance of the AF on the 135. True, it may have been an isolated incident, as many shooters rely on this lens for spectacular results on a regular basis, but if you're not happy, you're not happy. Suffice to say, he will be supremely satisfied with a 300 2.8L IS. As would I.

Ronald, you have not only an amazing memory, but a very accurate one too.
Yes, it was an isolated incident, my first paid wedding in a rather darkish room, where it hunted, to the point that I removed it and put it back in the bag.
I've been quite pleased with it recently when shooting candids outside. It's sharp, focuses very quickly too.

But for the 300 f2.8, I'd definitely give up those lenses and some cash too.

Stay tuned, same Bat time, same Bat channel. You may be seeing those lense in the classified section before you know it, along with the 100mm macro.
I feel like my dog when he's waiting for dinner. I'm salivating.
