Incredible!

those of you who have the EF 50mm 1,8 II lens know how "plastic" it is...well, yesterday afternoon mine fell from a 1-meter high table to a wooden floor. It sounded bad, very bad, at first I dind't even want to look at it.
BUT, it survived!!! I just couldn't believe it, I mounted it on the camera and made several shots f wide open to make sure it could still focus properly. And it does!!!

I was so happy that I started making photos of my girl, this is one of the best I got, she was lying on the floor and we used a mirror to reflect the sun coming through the window. The bright white was intentional, but maybe I went too far...

Who cares! My lens is still alive!!!!
:D

Hey, me too. My younger cousin dropped it onto a hard floor - and it still works and all the bits are intact!

Is this the lens everyone calls the Nifty Fifty? If so I want one.

I think you did a good job with the mirror reflection lighting.

Yes you did over do it with the light. She looks sick and maybe on her death bed. :)

I like the shot a lot, the only thing distracting to me is the difference in color between her neck and face.

I would have liked the image regardless, but you need more practice on your post processing technique.

Thank you all for your comments.
The image is less processed that it seems, the difference between face and neck is not result of post-processing. I agree it's distracting though...
The eye colour is slightly saturated and extra-contrasted.
HellaShot, I disagree completely with your comment.
best,
T.O.

...how come my 50mm didn't survive a 1.5 foot drop while inside a moderately padded bag? That's not fair. It still focuses correctly (more or less) when I put it back together, but it's quite beyond practical use.

Hey, I'm impressed you got it back together. If it had worked it would have been a miracle IMO. Nice job re-assembling it. I hope it was an f1.8.
