From a similar position as previous, before the mist rolled into the valley.
Canon 1DS MKII 1/120 sec@f16, ISO50. 180mm macro lens+ 1.4 TC, as before the longish lens was employed to compress the layers.
Also I didn't use a ND grad, I didn't want the sky/land to balance, preferring a more muted tone to the land, with hopefully a subtle shift in tones through the layers. A nd grad (I felt), would have made the land too bright for what I was trying to achieve.

OH, I like this very much. Nice that you still got detail in the foreground, often that is lost. Great feel to this photo.

Great shot. I love the way the orange colours go together with the mist.

Les, you truly have an eye for superb landscapes and you obviously have have the photographic skills to do them justice. Your images are consistently among the best on the POTN forums, and that's saying a lot because this place is crawling with top-tier photographers. Great job, as always.

Very nice! I like the details captured in this one. Very sharp and clear capture. Lovely depth and composition.

I almost never set out to photograph a landscape, nor do I think of my camera as a means of recording
a mountain or an animal unless I absolutely need a 'record shot'. My first thought is always of light. -Galen Rowell

excellent work yes as you say if the sky was muted more it would not be the same this is what you get when the sun strugles to get in the valleys ,a lot of home work is done to get shots like these ,first get out of bed haha

Beautiful shot Les. Where abouts was it taken? I'm not too far from Otley, only about 9 miles the other side of Skipton from you.

cheers
