1200mm f/5.6
180mm f/3.5 Macro
70-200 f/2.8

That's my line-up. I think canon has everyone else beat in these lenses.

i bought the 180 macro today, due mainly because i'm fed up with the working distance of the 65mpe, 'tis a wonderful lens.

You can pretty much choose any of Canon's telephoto primes above and including the 135mm f/2 knowing that you've got the best. Below that Canon are easily beaten by the equivalent Leica or Zeiss offering. Noteable exceptions to that rule are the superb 35mm f/1.4 and the 85mm f/1.2.

The holy trinity, I suppose. That would pretty much cover the standard range.
If we want something not so obvious, I'd say:
TS-E 90mm f/2.8 (the first medium telephoto for 35mm cameras with tilt AND the world's first tilt/shift lens with automatic aperture control)
400mm f/5.6L--no one else has something with so much reach and so much sharpness/contrast for such a low price and weight.
70-200mm f/2.8L IS--no explanation needed.
