However, it just didn't cut it for me. No experience with the 17-55, but mostly because I don't use my 1.6x anymore, and when I do, it's either for length or for the 35L. Oh, and I actually own and use both. They are great for different reasons. But if I had to take one lens with me, it would be the 24-105L, not the 24-70L. I think the IS L is a better all around lens, stunning really, but the widey covers the range I need for walkaround and will be an effective 3 lens solution with my Bigma and 35mm when I head to Africa next year. https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1203740

No, I decided it wasn't really what I wanted even tho' the price was very good and made think it was worth trying again. I'd prefer another Bigma. https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1203740

RonaldS.Jr. Prodigal "Brick" Layer More info | Sep 02, 2006 12:58 | #43 Yeah, you know as nice as it was to be able to handhold the 100-400 on those nice days, I used it on a tripod quite a fair amount. I should think, assuming the IQ is similar, it would be a pretty nice advantage to have that extra 100mm, and essentially the same aperture, as long as you're mounting it anyway. I wish the Bigma didn't have issues on the 5D. I often think I'd enjoy one. Now..I'd really like the Sigmonster, but at 5-7/8 times the price(DG or non-DG), I don't think so.
