I think my cryptic comment was interpreted correctly.... "behind them is nothing, but behind them there may be something" (ie. owner setting up a joke shot ;) ) Behind them is nothing - correct, it is not mounted, just on the table in the 'right' position.

It's a bad shot and not relevant for this thread but it's the only one I have on hand that shows my 17-85. It was taken for another thread. I use the 17-85 A LOT on my 350D (even though I have a 17-40)

You can modify a 17-85 by changing or removing the rear EF-S baffle, but I've been advised not to bother when shooting full frame because the mirror will still slam into the rear elements. The modification is most useful on cameras with reduced-size mirrors but are not EF-S compatible, ie. 10D.

You don't have to say it. You're surprised to see me with a 24-70L. It's ok. ;-)a

I think it's interesting to see some of these "workhorses" that you'd almost never ever expect. Especially from some people that have what would normally be considered "much better" lenses.

Canon 20D and Canon 16-35mm. $2400 some odd. It's killing me, It really is. It would be great for Football. Im not sure how much the payments would be on the credit card would be, though their is a 90- day no payment deal with B&H.

Just wish that N**** stuff into the cornfield, and click away. You'll be much happier. ;-)a

So...you're wanting a backup 20D? But but...isn't that what the D70 is for?

Nikon was/ or is for them small band shoots with the Flash wich I use on a monpod with wireless flashing which seems easier than Canons. It's doing me no good as it stands. I don't even have it actually, it's at Nikon assumely waiting to be checked out, it's been a month and a half. The Nikon kinda said "Im jealous of Canon, screw you" theme.. The quaility other than that in Nikon is just bad for sports, anything relating to darkness and sunsets..in basic terms, something that wants to look good:lol:

Both the 16-35L and the 70-200L IS spend about the same amount of time mounted, so both share the title "workhorse". It's hard to imagine going out to shoot with one without the other.

For professional work my main lenses are primes: 24 TSE, 35/2.0 EF, 50mm Compact macro, 100mm Macro.

For "walkabout" work, it's the 24-105L zoom.
