This old beauty was in town for the past 24 hours. I had a blast getting these shots. The enormity of this machine is astounding.

I hope you enjoy.

All are nice shots - my favorite is number 2. I like the steam in number 3. What can you tell us about old 700?

According to an article in the local paper, the 700 is a steam locomotive that was in service from 1938 through 1956 for the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway The SP&S 700 is 110 feet long and 17 feet tall.

It was built in 1938 by Baldwin. It was never modified while in service and has been restored, maintained and operated as constructed.

She's a beauty. Nothing like the raw power of steam to spark the kid in all of us.

You know, you're absolutely right! I found myself almost giddy just being around this thing. It took me right back to my train set as a kid. I loved seeing it.

The sheer magnitude of this piece of equipment is awe inspiring.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Very much, thank you. :D
Great shots. I wish one like this would come south by me. Which way did this one head out as it was leaving? ;)

Thanks Jon & Bruce.

It headed back to Portland, its home base. I think it comes to town (Salem, Oregon) every year. I'm not sure where else it goes.
