These things look awesome!

I hear they float, completely waterproof/crushproof/dustproof. I've heard photographers tie them to their kayak and go down white rivers with them!

I want one that comes with a handle and wheels so you can roll it around like luggage.

I guess I'd eventually like to pack this:

2x bodies with grips. Probably 30D equiv, but you never know if I move up to 1-series (probably only 5D0.

1x 17-40/4L
1x 70-200/4L
1x 50 or 85
1x 420EX Speedlite (might move to 430EX)
1x Bracket (got the Pro-T)

Tripod I could get a strap to carry outside the case. I guess I might get a 24-105L in the future so a space for that would be nice too.

What size should I be lookin at? Size/model?

Too much gear...
take nothing but pictures .... kill nothing but time .... leave nothing but footprints

Check out the 1510. I really use mine a lot.

If you want wheels and handle, you have no choice, the 1510 is the only one in this category.

But if you don't plan to travel with it, and with new regulations, maybe you will never be able to make the 1510 in the cabin. You can pick the 1550 as I did for roughly the same price as the 1510.

Their floatability is very good. I tried mine, which has the foam inserts, in a pool. With all my gear in it, he can serve me as a buoy. You can't sink it. For the crush proof design, I remarked that the case remain flexible to absob impact. So a little deformation can occur with high load on it. I put around 350 pounds on it. It flex a little but remain intact.

There is the 1560, which is basically a larger 1510, but may be too much.

I blow hot and cold over one of these. Maybe it's the right answer for me, maybe not. It would be wonderful if Lowepro designed an Omni bag that fitted in either the 1510 or 1560, so that you have the advantage of wheels and a handle.

I keep thinking about getting one, but it's not convenient to travel with. A bit too bulky and it's hard to swap gear fast with it.

I "think" that pelican make some bags that fit inside their case...
I remember that I have seen something like that.

B&H have some Pelican bags that fit inside their cases - see here (external link). There's nothing for a 1510, though. The only wheeled option is for the 1610, which is huge.

There's also the Lowepro Omni range, which fit inside Pelican cases (you can buy them with a Lowepro sticker on, though the Lowepro site identifies which Pelican case goes with which bag). However, none of these fit the wheeled 1510, 1560 or 1610 cases.

the 1510 is really good, but if you go for one consider getting the padded dividers rather than the foam interior as it's a lot more flexible when you change your equipment.

cheers

Hi Ben thanks for that.....

I do need a case which will accomadate future growth I dont mean a 1624
as my gear would look lost in it....;)

But I am hoping to get a 24-105 & 70 -200 and 100-400 and a fisheye and a macro lens as I progress so will need a case to take the lot. Then once that lot comes a second body

Thats why the 1564 appealed to me I saw a picture on here somewhere today.
