was rolling down the highway in Austin TX tonight and spotted this off to the side. UP4141
Rain storms behind and no tri-pod with me so it's not ideal exposure. (found info on the train here click (external link))

Interesting... I didn't think that UP would break with the yellow and gray to have a special paint scheme (well, SP did that a couple of times, IIRC)

Thanks for sharing.

Actually, along with the 4141 and the two Olympic Torch units (2000 and 2001), the UP has done a pretty good job with their Heritage Units. There's six of them total and they are all painted in some semblance of one of the railroads that the UP swallowed up (numbered with the year that the UP acquired that particular railroad).

There is a lot of speculation that the UP only did this to protect copyrights on fallen flag logos, but who knows, maybe they just want to show their history...

Here's a link to all of the different engines: (EDIT: This link used to work, now it doesnt...) (NEW EDIT: Now it does again!)

Hey the 2001 I shot not to far from house in Wixom, MI. The other two were on a Chicago to Houston train. Be patient they will get out.
