44 is too young. May the good work he has started continue.

Steve was special. :)

Here is a quote from an interview that was repeated on Aussie TV last night
(Steve talking about his wife , Terry)

She's into what I'm into. She's as passionate about wildlife as I am. If I said, "Go up and stick your head in that elephant's bum," she'd do it, mate.

It was a good interview. Here's a link:

I was very sad to hear this news.. :(
A showman and character for sure, and a friend of wildlife (even if he liked to wrassle with it :) ) is a friend of mine.

Crikey, he died with his boots on for sure. I do not think he would be the type that would prefer dieing in bed.
I'd like to think that he was doing what he loved in his last moments.

RIP Steve I hope there's lots of wild things where you end up.

I might suggest to some of those posting here, have a care for what you say.
I realize no ill intent is meant, but this is a very public forum. Speaking ill of someone behind closed doors is your prerogative, but consider the fact that his family could read this just as easily as you. In fact, this is quite a tribute to him. I'm sure just one of thousands circulation right now. I certainly hope his family is able to at some point in time take some comfort in how he has moved so many.

As it's been said, Steve died doing what he loved best, that's the only way to go.

Our thoughts are with Terri, Bindi & Bob...

RIP Steve

With Love & Light,

Man... I was toatally shocked by the news. I love herpetology and I watched steve every week for a long long time. I find it kind of odd that I feel so sad for someone I never even knew. Its such ashame. What a great person. Always happy loving and respectful. He did so much. I wish there were something I could to for the family I cant even imagine what they are going through.

What an incredibly freakish way to lose someone who was so good at what he did.... he was one of those few showmen who cared deeply about the end objective - getting people to know these dangerous animals and getting people to understand conservation.

RIP Croc Hunter - your efforts will continue and you will be missed

This is indeed very sad. If there is any bright spot, at least he went doing what he loved...bringing information and pictures to us that we otherwise probably would never see.

His wife is from just a few miles south of where I am, so we have a local connection to the family. Apparently they met when she vacationed in Australia. I feel for his wife and kids.

What a sad day for those who love the natural world.

Its was really sad to know about Steve's death.
For me , Steve has gone where no man has gone before, in his passion towards wildlife.

A big fan of his.

My sister-in-law went to his shows often in Australia and she sent me a few photos a few months back of these when he was doing one of his shows.

It's a very sad news. I always have the utmost respect for animal/nature lovers especially people like Steve. Although he went out at 44, the amount of efforts and contributions he had put in, easily triple or quadruple that.

RIP crocodile hunter.

Add my condolences. Enjoyed his shows so much. Sorry he left this earth so young, but he lived more than most people his age.

I was watching some of the media coverage and there is his manager breaking down on TV while the flashes and shutters are going off right left and center.

Even as a photographer who understands what it means to 'get the shot', there's something I find really cruel to be blasting away with the motor drive when the poor guy is going to pieces.

I guess it was his time to go. It's very sad. I liked him a lot. He had character and didn't mind displaying it which is rare these days. Let's hope that there is an afterlife and that he's happily chasing snakes and crockodiles in the afterlife.
