I think the 4th one could have a tighter crop, eliminating the ploe in the foreground. Otherwise, good stuff.

I also like the single girl walking on the sidewalk. Nice mood.

[I've been playing the violin for years, I think that's a double bass, no such thing as a bass violin]

thanks for the replies all... i'll post up a shot of the entire band tomorrow when I get home (as i'm not too sure what instrument it was... probably wasnt a violin, but it was big... i gurantee that). Next week i can finally post up in the Sports forums as I'll be in St Louis and I'll be at the Cardinals/Astros game... YAY!

no other criticisms besides perhaps cropping a little tighter on the shot with the pole in it? :)

It's a bass, but country folk might call it a bass fiddle.

And it's pronounced differently than the fish. It's pronounced like "base".

You can tune a bass, but you can't tune-a-fish.

Or something like that.

By the way, those shots all look good. Except the last one of that dude in the sunglasses. Looks like it was taken with one of them bloody Nikons or something.

I like the last one you posted. It's interesting and I dig the composition and feel of it. I also love the other instrument shot with the hand. Great shot. Your color and exposure look great throughout here.

IMO I think the images would have more impact by eliminating the extra stuff in the backgrounds and foregrounds )tighter crops) and/or using a more shallow DOF to draw the attention where you want it, but then again I really don't know much about street photography. FWIW, I couldn't even nail focus when I first starting shooting people. You are off to a great start. :)

you mean the one of the entire musician? i just considered that a throw-away... just cropped it away from a larger image. I'm glad you like it though!

regarding the DOF and getting more of it.... I'm limited by my equiment... my highest f-stop is 2.7 on this camera so being able to get more DOF would be almost impossible... and any time zoom in, I go to either f3.2 or f3.5 dependent on the camera.

i consider this camera a stepping stone to a better understanding of photography before i go making crazy investments in a dslr body and 3 or 4 lenses. :)

In those Photos I do see the guy from Mythbusters, Gwyneth Paltrow, a violinist, the cast of Dawson Creek, and Tom Green !!... :) Good paparazzi job.

I personally like to have a theme when I go out to take snapshots of people (shooting people sounds really funny). I Like to photograph anyone I see with a Hat, or every blonde, or anyone with a Dog, etc. I realize that I tend to gather more experience and learn more about myself and my technique.

However, these shots you posted are decent. Cheerios and keep on snappin' !!

Hi, I hope its o.k. to ask another question to someone who posted here. Kathy, what lens do you use for your portrait shots? I went to your link. I really want to get into that area of photography.

Thanks,
Teeny
