As the title says what gear to take on my forthcoming trip, current set up is

10D with grip
Tokina 12-24 F4
28-80
75-300 MKIII
Tamron 90 Macro
Benbo trekker

What would be the best combination? bear in mind current UK security precautions for flying. my concern is knowing which lens combo to take maybe purchase another lens before I leave.

Your thoughts much appreciated

Not sure I understand your problem here. You've got all focal lengths from 12 to 300 covered. What do you imagine you might want to photograph that you couldn't do with those lenses?

Drop the 70-300 and macro IMHO, I mainly use my 12-24 on holiday. Never been on a cruise or to that area tho.

I am going on a cruise to South America in Jan and have given alot of thought on what to take. I have decided to take what is in my signature below. We will be going around the horn so I want the 70-300 for the long shots from the ship. The 50 1.8 for interiors, the 10-20 for fun and in the city. The 28-135 for my walk around lens.

I'd just take the 10D with the toke.
If you really want to be inconspicous, ditch the grip and the lens hood as well.

take them all, I can assure you you'll use all of them, if not then no worries, but better than leaving them at home. Carribbean is awesome and there is images everywhere, from wide scenics to 300mm candid portraits of locals, and the macro for the flowers!

remember your chargers!

apparently the planes aren't too bad, don't take liquids in your gear though.

I've been in a cruise before, and I can tell you that you will definitively benefit from the 12-24, and the 28-80. Shots inside the ship will look great with the wide angle. Most likely you will go on tours while on the islands, and any of the 2 lenses mentioned before will work. The grip I would say its optional, as long as you carry extra batteries. A CP filter will also come in handy when taking outdoor shop while at sea, as it gets really bright in the middle of the ocean. If I may ask you, which cruise line will you be traveling with?
