That's a great shot Snappa of the winchat, the composition is very good with the added red berries. very nicely composed shot, well done.
And looks like you have managed to capture a mighty fine close-up shot of the little egret. Focus is perfect, well done.

Thank you very much Tony. Sadly your enthusiasm has not been shared and I appear to have dipped out with these particular shots. Must try harder !

Very nice captures Snappa. Love the perch, the pose, and the colors on the first, well done.

Cheers Reyno. I am beginning to wonder if the lack of enthusiasm for these shots is because the first one may not look real ? I can only assure everybody that it is.

the first shot is great, it does look a little over processed ie looks like the bird has been pasted on (although it obviously hasnt) the egret? is really nice, a little noisy, and can see why the day was so harrowing ! I would have left a little more to the right of the egret? so it had some more space to look into, but would still be proud to get close enough to get one half as good !

Thank you for the kind comments. The second shot is, I think, a Little Egret.
Ian, it was not until I looked a bit closer that I realised that the first shot does not look quite right. I don`t know why as it was taken from about 20 metres whilst it was sitting on top of a berry bush. I suppose some shots work and some don`t.

Its a fine shot, its probably just unfortunate with the blue background etc, makes it look odd, maybe with a slightly different background this would be really nice ! Dont knock yourself out though, its still a nice shot ! :)

John,

to my eyes the winchat is a bit "over processed" - it looks to be over contrasty on my monitor (though it's not bad at all for a crop from 20 metres).

I've attached a slightly reworked version which looks a bit better to my eyes - I've lowered the contrast in Curves, and used the "fill flash" option in PSP X to lift the brightness.

Any good?
