Congrats, you're going to love this lens; it's a cracker. [Or as Steve would've said, "Crikey!"]

I've just added that to my collection this week too! You're going to love it. You should sell the 50mm now :D I don't think mine will get used again!

What's that screen shot from? It's a much prettier price than B&H... :)

I can't say I haven't thought about it. Close to the FOV and quality of my Zeiss 35mm but faster and with HSM :-) Nice buy!

I ordered the lens from www.sigma4less.com (external link) as they were significantly less expensive than B+H ($429.00).

I'll post some sample shots when it arrives

Thanks, Condyk...

Reading your posts and others here have caused me to want to try more "prime" photography and work on my composition...as you well know, a prime makes you work harder to get a decent shot but it very satisfying when you do :)

I am well satisified with my lens collection now and have no interest beyond 200MM. Working on composition and technoque are my goals for the fall and winter.

I'm feeling the desire to get a more comprehensive prime setup as well. Not so much for the "challenging compositions" end of the bargain, but moreso for lowlight shooting. Total preparedness is my goal and I only have one prime at the moment. I'd really like the 35L and intend to get it soon but that Sigma looks mighty cute every so often, primarily due to price.

We pay £300 for this lens over here.

I'm off to kill myself.

I had one on my old Nikons and it's very, very nice. I'm thinking about getting one for my Canons now, but it would add to, not supplant, my 50/1.4.

cdi-ink,

I looked at Canon's non-Ls from 24MM to 35MM and compared then to the Sigma 30MM. From my research the Sigma came out on top as offering the best return on my investment. It is fast and offers good IQ for the price. I am staying away from any more "L" lenses until I feel that my skills can justfy the added expense. A some point in the future I may start to "trade up" to L primes. I am looking forward to walking around with the 30MM on one dRebel and the 85MM on the other :)

Yeah my other tossup is the 28 f/1.8...but it's an f/1.8. I'd rather have the f/1.4 of some sort since everything I shoot seems to be in the extremes. I don't think I'd ultimately be happy with any of the Canon non-L options. :)

I also try to live by the "buy the best, cry once" philosophy. Meaning my wallet can only hurt one time but at least then I know there's nothing better for the EOS line.
