I was very saddened to hear about this tragedy. From what I could tell he was a man who really loved life. Hopefully his legend will live long in the hearts of all of us and his family. Thank you for sharing these shots.

The last one is GREAT! Touching shot, with lots of color and sharpness.

I was a big fan of Steve's. I always watched his shows on television. Great pictures of him. I enjoyed looking at them.

And at the risk of getting slammed here, I don't think anybody would dispute he led a very dangerous existence and put himself in extremely precarious situations. It seemed inevitable that he would die a tragic death. It is still a sad ending to a wonderful life. I feel very sorry for his family.

while his programmes have the impression of extreme danger, safety was always a priority when i came to Steve. Yes he did have a dangerous job, but he was a professional. He will be sadly missed. He is a great role model for us all.

i live about 1 hour away from australia zoo and let me tell you his loss has had a huge impact on everyone around here, i will remember him for what he has done for the animal world but most of all i will remember him for what he was like as a human being, honest, censitive, caring, genuine, giving, not afraid to be himself, if onlythere were more people like him this world would be a much, much, better place. but he will live on for ever.

I was very saddened as well to hear of his passing. In these situations, I always choose to celebrate their life and, wow, what a life he had. He packed a whole lot of living in those 44 years.
God's speed Steve and may God bless your family and all who mourn your loss.

Sad day for sure. I really admired his zest for life but I could never watch his show. He scared me half to death most of the time.

I went to Australia Zoo a little over two months ago. As I live only about an hour's drive away we tend to visit about once a year, something I still intend to do. Actually we came very close to buying a season pass on this last visit and probably will on our next visit. What better way to support his efforts than to support his Wildlife Warriors and Zoo so that their work can continue.

Steve and the rest of his family were up in the stands singing and dancing along. That day he was just a dad cheering on one of his kids while he played with the other. Not a great shot as I was on the other side of the stadium.
