Hello Everyone,
This is my first post here, but truthfully I have been "lurking" for a while! I have enjoyed seeing many wonderful photographs that this group takes and I am learning more of the technical side of photography here too. ( That is my major weakness). Photography has been my hobby/passion for 17+ ( groan) years now and I just bought a 20D, got it two days ago and I think I am in heaven!!
Here are a few shots I have done with it so far. Still learning my way around all it's buttons and functions and such.
Comments welcome. Thanks for looking :)

I would say that you are finding your away around the 20D quite well! Nice shots.

Welcome and glad to have you!

I love the cat one too. (And aside from the photo it's a gorgeous cat...)

You'll have lots of fun with your 20D...what did you shoot with before this?

Ditto to all the above. Nice photos, and specially Welcome to the Forum !!...

The 20D will give you a lot of satisfactions, and will be a great tool to help you capture the images you want. Tanks for posting these images, and please feel free to post more !!!...

I got a new camera myself, and now I gotta go get the card, and upload some pics for some C&C. Hopefully they came out good !!...

Cheers,

Thanks so much for all your warm welcomes and comments!!

To answer your questions, I took the cat with the 50mm f/1.8. I am starting with that and the kit lens for now. Now I just need a flash, a bigger CF card, a case, more lenses, etc etc.

What I used before; I began a long time ago with a Canon film SLR, AE-1 program. Then about 6 years ago I switched to a 2.5 mp, fixed lens, digital SLR, an Olympus ( please don't kick me out of the group, LOL! ) Up until 2 days ago that was what I used, so the 20D is a big upgrade for me! And lots more to think about with interchangable lenses again, but I am loving the creative control and I now realize how frustrated I really was with what I had before.

Here are a couple more:

Looks like you have some real talent! I would normally say great start but I think you are well beyond your "start". Welcome to the forum. I (we) look forward to seeing and hearing more from you.
BTW- I absolutely love the last shot of the chess board. It is genious. The lone black figure in focus against an army of white out of focus players. Perfect use of shallow depth of field. You could read so much into this photograph. I love it. (sorry for gushing- I really like chess :))
