Some of you may remember me ranting about this being a dry year for storms and to fix my lightning bug I've been shooting distant lightning. Well... Finally we got a severe storm. :D Actually a series of them. :D :D Took over 750 images last night and learned a very valuable lesson. I need more CF's ;) Anyway here are a few that I have processed. Enjoy!

4, 5 and especially #6 (#13 in your gallery) are awesome. Looks like you caught some "twins" and "triplets". :-)

Only thing I'd change would be to level the horizon line (#6) and clone out that odd thing in the bottom left corner of #5.

Great shots. 4, 5 and 6 are reminders of why I became interested in photography in the first place.

Very impressive lightening shots Rick. Are you at Joshua tree looking toward 29 Palms? or vice-versa?

29 Palms. The lights in shots 1 through 6 is the Marine Base here in 29. Shot 7 is looking towards JT and the last is looking towards Landers. Hope that gives ya a sense of direction. Thanks everyone for the compliments.

J T - The thing in the corner of shot 5 is my pool. Good catch. Thanks.

Great shots..how do you know when to hit the shutter? What clues you in that there will be a lightning strick BEFORE it happens?
