Well, rant time, every now and then life just goes mad, and it is one of those times, neither really good or really bad, just mad.

Life is interesting working from home with a wife 41 weeks pregnant, a hyper 2 and a half year old, and the mother in law.

On todays list was an opportunity to get out of the house and the madness. The front left alloy wheel on my wife's Nissan was busted, and since the spare was a space saver and they no longer made that particular kind of alloy wheel, it was time to replace the lot. Easy? not really. $500 bucks for a new set of four alloys, OK don't need anything that flash on the old Nissan, so how about some good old steel rims, $400 each ex Japan - so ah no thankyou, how about second hand, well all those dodgy second hand Japanese cars they bring into the country well half of them don't have wheels that meet our safety standards, so second hand from a dealer is out.

Off to the local version of eBay (TradeMe) to see what is around, but first on to the Nissan dealer to make sure I have the right size, yep 14" 4 stud 114.3mm. Ok found some on Trademe for $30, but it is an hour away, sounds fair to me!

Hit the road, got the wheels, headed back to my favourite tyre shop, yep they will do fine, picked some tyres and went for a walk whilst they fitted them. Came back half an our later, guess what wrong stud diameter, the wife's Nissan is 100mm not 114.3mm. Arggghhh, so I drive for two hours to get the wrong wheels and still have a car that is "unsafe" to drive, well off home I go.

Anyway arrive back to the madness at home, wife is still pregnant, and the other wee one has had far too many cup cakes, so I am side tackled before even getting in the door. Don't know if you have tried but it is hard to climb a set of stairs with a 2 and a half year old firmly attached to one leg.

Wife steps in and runs a distraction, God bless her! "Do you want to go for a walk with me and grannie?" Don't need to ask twice, off she goes to get the shoes, comes and enquires as to where they are going - around the block she is told.

A few minutes later after getting her shoes on she pulls out her box of blocks sticks it in the middle of the room and starts walking around it, when asked what she was doing she replied that she was walking around the block. My wife laughed so hard that I almost had to deliver the baby!

Oh and to top it off got back to my desk and get a call from Australia, job offer in Sydney to thing about over the weekend.

Anyone want a 2 and a half year old and a set of second hand steel rims?

Madness, I need to clear my mind, off to take some photos...

What a day Pete!

Hope you get those wheels sorted.

Any news on a more accurate arrival time?

Yeah, I actually got a WOF for the car with the spare on, so the rush is off. Bummer about the steelies though, they are in really good nick, got the tyre shot to check them to make sure.

As for arrival times, well no idea, but if not by next Friday she will get induced. The real bummer is Shonas mum has to go back to work on Monday.

Not withstanding the tire incident, there will be a time when you look back and cherish the times that your child put a death grip on your leg. Been there done that and god knows there were times when you just wanted to escape the madness.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

The other stuff will go away, don't ever forget that!!
