For the first time in 49 years our county (Wells) has had a young lady win the title of Miss Indiana State Fair. I photographed Nikki for her senior portraits, then when she won the Wells county title in July, and now again.

In both of my high key imaging areas I have white walls that are fairly close to where I pose the subject. When the main light fires it will bounce off of that white wall and fill in the shadows, so I used a black 4 foot wide by seven foot long gobo placed just out of camera range on the shadow side of the image. This prevents the main from filling in the shadow side of the image and gives a three dimensional look to the image.

Lighting-Fill behind camera, main light at camera left, hair light above and slightly behind her, two background lights, one in the odd shaped aperture in the wall behind her (with one stop more light than the other background light), the other at camera left directed at the back wall.

Ben

Nicely done, Benji!
I'm trying to figure out what's reflected in the trophy cup.

Curt,

As we view the cup, Nikki's dress is reflected on the left side, the middle is my camera room, and the right side is my black gobo. I also photographed the cup all alone in a white tent and placed it into this image but it looked really strange not having any reflections in it (except the camera lens!) so I reverted back to the "real" cup. Still not sure I like it however!

Wow! She's perfectly lit. What I'm even more impressed with is the way you've done the background.

Nice work. Excellent detail in the stairway even with all of the white. Beautiful model. I'm sure she was pleased with the photo.

I am in awe. That is an excellent shot. I love the lighting, subtle background, everything. Great job!
