I have seen these Ospreys every morning fishing over the harbor. They will make thier unmistakable noises and then hover over the bay. This morning, this osprey came right at me. He had not caught any fish. :( Both shots are uncropped.

I know the wing's tips are cut, but he was coming right at me. :)

Hope he didn't think you were a fish Keith. Two great shots of the Osprey. The Ospreys eyes stand out well in both and looks like you are having good weather in Florida.

Perfectly timed captures, the dropped wings and the straight-looking eyes on the first make it an extraordinary shot. Brilliant work Keith.

Have you got a fish on your hat Keith? Wonderful shots - those eyes are locked in on something.

Very nice, Keith. The only osprey captures I have could be confused with a ball of lint.

Look at those eyes, fantastic shots Keith. The only shots I got of Osprey is when they were nesting on top of a light pole.

Many thanks to all for your comments. I am very lucky to have this spot/parl less than fifteen minutes from my door. The majority of my post are shot here. These Ospreys fish here and almost every morning can be seen bringing in the catch. The reason that they are lowere in the sky is there are trees right behind where I set up. So they catch the fish and head right in over us. This guy was hovering over the bay when I grabbed the shots. For some strange reason, they always seem to look right at us when they are doing thier fly bys.

Here's one from this AM, (Cropped 50%)

Wow Kieth ! Mind sharing camera settings during these shots ? I am curious about AI Servo or AI Focus. Either ? Spot Metering ? Thanks for sharing...

They were all shot with the 20D, 100-400L IS, the camera was set for servo focusing mode using central point only, partial metering mode, +1EC, ISO 200 for the last shot..
The first two were same set up, but I used ISO 400 with +1/3EC. The first two were a burst of about 4 frames....
