Welcome home Zane. As Lonnie eluded too, if you need to earn a living many of these great places do not offer much opportunity

I know what you mean. I hate to give up my business because I can make good money and don't have a whole lot of other skills, at least not on paper as far as a resume. Leyla has several degrees in natural resource management stuff so there is a lot of potential for her.

OH yeah.... welcome home Zane! I bet Jinx got the bendy wiggles when she saw you, huh? :D

Hehehe:lol: yes! She gets them upside down. They start upright and then she flops.

PUDS Congratulations on a well deserved win! Great TR's keep em coming.

BECKY I got boogered up by your storms on my connecting flight through O'Hare airport. I was going to try you when we got delayed but my laptop died and Leyla had packed the cord. The place was crazy with all the delays.

WANDA I like the range of my 100-400 but am not convinced I like the image quality. Lots of good shooters on here love theirs.

Anyone I missed, nice duck thanks for sharing

If you use Firefox, get the "PDF Download" extension.

If you don't use Firefox, get Firefox THEN get the "PDF Download" extension.

Or, right click on the link and choose "Save As..." ;)

Man, if my wife could support me and my photography in an environment like that, I would be real quick on getting fitted for an apron. :)

But, a good income from a source you are comfortable working within would be tough to let go.

Also, remember you have not seen that country in its winter extremes either, not quite so nice. Real cold and real short days.

Yep, we've got several marmalades in here and Wanda's is the helmeted one.

Didn't you just go to Scotland? (or am I confused too?) And if so, have I missed the photos?

I did just go to Scotland/Northern Ireland/England and no you have not missed the photos yet, I haven't posted any at this point. I'm still about half-way through the conversion to jpeg, not to mention editing out all the GD dots from my GDGND filter. I won't worry too much about the dots at this point though. Only a few will get that much attention since we're going to print some for framing as a gift to my wife's parents.

Wanda (cylentka) had Twink, the helmet cat, as her avatar until she changed it to her daughter
Crissa (Skrim17) has Puck as her current avatar.

HTH. ;)

IHALT! :D

Even though this was addressed to WANDA it's a good thing to know as I too am interested in buying something with more reach. What is your primary complaint about IQ? I'm assuming it's not tack sharp but at what size do you really notice the IQ? Are you enlarging to 8x10 from that lens?

I know what you mean Jim. We had a friend that worked for the park service. She worked at Yellowstone in the summer and the Everglades in the winter. Sounds nice eh?
If she can support us I will gladly pick up an apron. I do the cooking already and she keeps telling me to stop killing myself for my work and become a house husband. I just can't bring myself to do it right now. I have an expensive toy habit.

It is not tack sharp and I am comparing to my 70-200 f/2.8L so it may not be fair. Neil, Jim, Alan and others shoot with one and their images are fantastic. I shoot steeplechase races and I notice faces being soft at distance. I find it is not a great sports lens. It seems to do better for things like birds, in good light, when they are close and I am zooming in on them.

Haha that's an awesome photo! :) I didn't know your cat was a photographer. ;)

I'm looking forward to later this year, the wife and I are going to be getting a dog of some sort... not sure what yet but we live in an apartment so it's going to be small. I'm sure I'll be posting all kinds of photos of it in the near future.

That reminds me of the Stratosphere tower in Las Vegas. They used to have a roller coaster at the top, and it made the observation decks up there shake and vibrate. That is not something you want to feel when you're standing on top of a 1149-foot building!

When did they take the roller coaster down?
