my pain in the a** statement on the haoda screen was refering to the fact that you lose the AF points and it doesn't seem anywhere near as bright as the standard screen , as i said its amazing if you do a lot of manual focus work (ie macro for me) but i always found it incredibly annoying when i went to take a shot of something other than a bug. (i do that from time to time :))

it was also completely useless with extension tubes on because half of the split prism was always completely black and the viewfinder was so dark i was lucky to be able to see a bug nevermind get it in focus.
(i don't even have a clue where the screen is now) it was a fun gimick for half an hour anyways. I guess it depends on the shooter.

id say tho that if you liked the split madcatz screen you'll like the haoda also
(it just wasn't for me)

yeah but the katz seems to be better manufactured... although, the haoda for the 5D is manufactured from the official canon ones (which were made for other FF cameras) so we'll see how we go... they also have new revisions of them too... which I have no idea what's changed ;|

On my 30D, I didn't lose my AF points, as it wasn't part of the focus screen (so to speak). With the Katz ones for 350Ds, you can get them with focus points, and optibrite treatment.

With tubes on the 30D, it seemed fine as well... I'm pretty sure I read something that the new revision haoda and the katz ones don't suffer from black prisms until after f/11? not sure :|

hopefully i have no major issues, or I may have to get some "matt" screen or whatever the other options are for official canon replacement 5D screens...

Anyone know anything about Carlsbad, New Mexico?

More than I want. Met my parents there for vaction when I was stationed San Antonio. My car blew its transmission 10 miles before I got to the caverns. Ended up spending 2 days there trying to get my car fixed, I flew back to Lackland AFB, they went on to the Grand Canyon, etc. Then flew back to get my car after they finally got the parts, the mechanic got back from his honeymoon, he eloped the week he was suppose to fix my car. There is one thing and one thing only in Carlsbad, and that is the caverns. Nice caverns though and it is cool when all the bats fly out in mass in the evening. We're talking thousands coming out all at once.

I kinda like it, too. Unfortunately, there's a ton slated. I hope you guys don't get bored with 'em too soon....

I haven't had any fallout from the Claire/Sari thing yet. They usually don't come on until later. At least Claire doesn't come on till later. Sari is hit and miss nowadays; I wonder if she'll even see it....

NEVER!!!

Speaking of Sari, what is the latest on her niece? Did they ever come up with any conclusive diagnosis?

i had one of them in my 350D for a while and i found it to be a bit of a pain in the a**
(amazing for manually focused macro work tho)
let me know how you get on with it..

last week I put an etched grid screen in my 5d and that is just awesome...

I put the Haoda screen on my 20D and found thet when there was enough light for it to work proper, it was great for use in MF. For AF it actually was tougher to see that the focus was on.

Good to hear you like the etched grid screen, I am contemplating that for myself.

Do you have a bad shift key on your keyboard? The scroll wheel normally changes the font size if you're holding the shift down at the same time. (In Firefox, IE and Opera that I know of.)

On my computer I hold down the Ctrl key and use the scroll wheel to change text size. I do it all the time, dependant upon how my eyes are feeling. :)

On one the rebels did you lose the AF points.

I suffered from the black prisms way too often with most of my lenses, though my zooms are all f4 or slower. If the newer screens are better, and I would bet the brighter one on the 5D would be, I might think of getting a split screen as I really liked them back in my MF film days.

Oops. :o You're right. Shift-mouse wheel goes backwards and forwards in the browser's history.

the way the 350D screens are made, you can't help but lose the AF points (with the haoda screens and default katz ones). Katz have the option to buy it with focus points for the 350D and 400D.

I'm pretty sure haoda's forums say that the 5D ones have been redesigned. The katz i had on my 30D was fine past f/11. I can get 'three' to check the 30D I sold him, but I'm 99.9% sure it was fine (at at least f/4, f/5.6 etc cos that's what the 17-85 he has is).

They thought she had leukemia for a while, but the tests were negative for that. Last I heard (and this was a while ago), they still hadn't determined just what is wrong with her.

Good morning/afternoon/evening. We're kinda scattered all over the globe in different time zones, so it's a generic greeting we invented in this thread.

oh ok :D hehe... makes sense... I tended to write it in full (that's what I did in that 'other' thread)... which lead someone to say that I'm not a real aussie... and hence my title, and consequently my avatar :D hahaha

on that note.... have a G'MAE everyone.... I'm off to zzzz...

c-ya on the other side ;)
