I showed some of my photos to my Graphic Designer (the lady that does all the work for Dave Menegay Hyundai). Now she wants me to shoot her wedding in the back yard.
I don't know how to do that. And well all know what happens to Newbies in the WF. Whatever am I going to do?

Weddings are stressful, especially for types like me who don't shoot people. I have done 4 and I will not do another. Ever.

Jamie - I would do it. Let her know that you are not a pro at wedding photography but that you will give it your best.

The WF peeps make everyone think you need ALL this gear and ALL this experience, etc -- not 100% true -- a good eye is helpful!

i got a new toy today

Kewl. I've been thinking of upgrading my cell phone to the new model. I have the Sidekick II right now, but the Sidekick 3 is so much better. The 3 does have a better camera in it (not as good as your little toy there, though), but I never use the camera feature anyway, so I don't really care about that. The bluetooth, MP3 player and SD storage cards would make it worth upgrading to me, though.

I had considered switching back to T-Mobile but their coverage isn't as good.

I've been with T-Mobile for a year and a half now (they're the only ones who support the Sidekick). I travel quite a bit and have only found two areas where I couldn't get a signal. In Death Valley (and NO cell phones work there! Only satellite phones), and the Central California Coast, around Cambria. Never had a problem anywhere else, except a couple dead zones along Highway 49, but it does work in the places I visit and stay at the night most.

No, it won't be until much later than that. Probably the end of July or beginning of August, I'm thinking.

Personally, I wouldn't care who it was or how many favors I owe them. I would never even consider shooting a wedding. Nope. No way. Couldn't make me do that at gunpoint...

I am not as fast as I once was. I remember mom shooting some when I was younger and she was stressed.

Seriously though Jamie, as Scott said, just make her well aware of your capabilities and experience. I would somehow get another body for the day, so you can have a backup as well as use of 2 different lenses.

Read up in the WF, there is tons of good advise in there, I know you can extract the good information and ignore any of the pompous attitudes , right?

I'm heading up to Mystic Ct. next week for a few days of vacation with the clients here at work. We're taking them to see the seaport and aquarium, on a steam train and paddle boat ride, an evening at the theater to see Nunsense and general sightseeing. I'm bringing my 2 canon zooms and hope to have lots of pictures to share!!

Yeah I think you and Scott are right. I plan on doing some reading and may post just to see what stirs up.
