Ok, I have a strange thing happening. I have a Dell desktop and a Dell laptop. Both relatively new, running WinXP, both have CD and DVD burners. I copied some files on a CD from my desktop to transfer to my laptop. The laptop says the CD is wrong format. So I formatted a CD on my laptop and put it in the desktop to copy the files again, and the desktop does not even see the CD and keeps telling me to put in a blank CD to do the burn. WTF???

edit: I transferred the files by copying them to a CF card, lol. None of my computers has a floppy drive and my thumb drive seems to have bit the dust.

Well at least the DVD I burned on the laptop works on the desktop, so I'll be able to store my vacation photos on DVDs and still process them on this desktop. Computers were a lot easier to use before they made them easy to use.

It may be the type of CD that you purchased. You know there are cdr+, cdr-, cdrw+ etc. That may be the problem.

Be careful with how you deal with CD's. Many CD burners come with a utility that allows you to treat a CD as a writable disk drive. "Formatting" converts the CD to a format that can only be read or written to by the program and drive that did the formatting making the CD useless for other computers. Better to use regular CD burning software like Nero, or RecordNow (Which I think is bundled with some computers).

I used the utility that came with the computers. Roxio. It formats with DLA which I generally don't like, but since the two computers are so similar I thought the CD would work on both of them if formatted like that. I have Nero at work. I'll look for the CD and put it on the laptop and desktop. I never had any trouble burning CDs or DVDs until I got new computers!

The new P&S came today. Took 5 hours to charge a battery smaller than my thumb! I took some shots and will post in a few.

Wow, box, duck, furkids, and landscapes, after you get the real kid, you have nothing left to shoot. You might as well just throw the camera away. :) :)

The pics look ok to me Wanda, you'll have to let us know how that underwater thing turns out. That does sound a little scarey.

Lots of catching up here for me...

Nice review Becky, hope you are having fun.

Sorry about the boredom Alan, too bad they didn't send you home with some good drugs

Really nice 'artsy' stuff Deb!

Athena I hope the little guy is feeling better, did he have to go to the hospital?? and did you notice ALAN sent him HUGS!!!

Wanda those look decent, what modes are available? You probably have to use a 'mode' to get the flash not to fire.
