I wanted to know what the heck he was doing, but didn't have the heart to ask him while he was in so much pain.

Let us know when you find out, my guess would be climbing the pole and falling but who knows with kids.

I will try underwater shots when I get braver.

be sure it is completely waterproof before you try that and not just showerproof/weatherproof.
ive had so called waterproof watches die in swimming pools...
if the instructions say it can go underwater it would have been one of the 1st things i'd have tried :)

Wanda, I'm seriously considering that camera, so I expect full review updates as you use it. ;) :p I'm also interested in some underwater shots.

Wow, box, duck, furkids, and landscapes, after you get the real kid, you have nothing left to shoot. You might as well just throw the camera away. :) :)

The pics look ok to me Wanda, you'll have to let us know how that underwater thing turns out. That does sound a little scarey.

The kid was being her usual stubborn self when it comes to photos, so I left her shots out.

Lots of catching up here for me...

Wanda those look decent, what modes are available? You probably have to use a 'mode' to get the flash not to fire.

I figured out the flash. It has 10 or 12 modes, most of the usual. Indoor, outdoor, candle, low light, night, night portrait, landscape, landscape+ portrait, etc.

It is waterproof to 33 ft down! It has specific instructions for checking for debris around the rubber sealing thingies, and for cleaning out the shutter when you are done underwater.

RTFM and take it off Auto :D

I did RTFM a few minutes ago, lol. Which isn't easy with a chatterbox in the house. I'll try to get it off Auto. It seems to revert back to that as default. There is probably a setting to stop that but I haven't discovered it yet. This is a very complicated camera and manual to be a little shrinkydink point and shoot.

We'll go out and try underwater after the kid gets done with her karate practice.

It does underwater videos too!

Hi all, I have not tried to catch up yet.

Wildy busy day, but I just took enough time to spend $600 at B&H. Now I feel a bit better ;)
Boy, this cross border shopping is looking much better with the USD dropping in the last while.

Wanda, we bought that camera for my daughter who will receive it for her birthday next Wednesday. There are lots with better IQ and other features, but the toughness built in to this thing is why we bought it for her. I talked to someone who has one who took lots of underwater shots while on vacation a couple weeks ago and said it performed great, though they said 10' was the deepest it ever went. I have had the one for Caitlin for a couple weeks now and have been soooo tempted to try it out, but will leave that for her. :)

i was messing around with low DOF macro shots today... was kinda fun and liberating not having to worry about getting maximum depth. (its also REALLY good focusing practice coz you have to be spot on)
(all at f/2.8 ) maybe tomorrow i'll put the 50 1.4 on some tubes and go for REAL shallow dof.
(the mommie wolf spider is still hanging around..... can't wait till the babies hatch :))
