What's next, is there a love (human) in your life. Maybe the nurse from the hospital? :)

lol jim.... i do have a new female friend yeah..... but that happened before i went to hospital.

let me know how you get on with the grip..... i was enquiring about one the other day in town...

(i love the grip on my 350D but only because it adds much needed bulk to the tiny camera)
the 5D on the other hand feels nice and balanced without

Its doing ok in the pool. As you probably know it has several underwater modes, including underwater macro. Not sure if I'll get much use of the different modes, but I'm going to try. There is a turtle farm that has a snorkeling pool where you can get in with various sea creatures. I'm dying to go there!

I found the best results come from real clear water (duh, obviously). :)
When there are particles, even wee ones floating about, they with catch light and really shot up on the photos. Flash helps too if it is overcast, but it can make those little particles blown out.

I have really only tried underwater photography once, and I sure wish I had practiced before hand more to find out what all works best.

All on your own, I can't see it. Though we all do change. :)
We are all quite used to the crusty Alan, but I think we could handle a wee bit o' the softy one too. ;)
But, not too much, ok.

I have a snap and shoot (read almost disposable) 35 mm with a fixed lens that has a n underwater housing and I use it in the pool, it is basically similar to those underwater disposables but you can refill the film. It is fun, I get the shots developed to disk only then edit them.

That is a smart way to do it, Crissa! I've never had much need for underwater photography before, since my kid won't get her head under water.

I used to buy the disposables for the beach, but I think I'm going to like this little snapper better for the beach. It has a beach mode, even. It has a lot of features that I can't seem to use because it reverts to P mode all the time. I think I need to read the book again after the kid goes to bed.
