Sounds like a great system! My current computer is a three year old Dell. It isn't quite as powerful as that, but after all these years it's still going strong. Dells are built like tanks...

I've never bought a Dell!! I got one for my parents, and I got one at work, but I've never bought one for myself. I always either bought an open box special form comp usa (current machine) or some sort of obscure configure your own machine. I figured it was time, I'm on a machine that gives me those weird delayed write fialed and sys.ini errors and overheats as well, so hopefully withint 4-6 weeks I'll be zooming along on my new machine :)

I was pleased to see they had AMD processors, I've always preferred them for some reason, my small way of sticking it to the Intel machine perhaps?

My last machine was a custom built one. It lasted about a year and a half before the power supply died. I replaced that and four or five months later the hard drive crashed. That's when I replaced it with this Dell. I'm the opposite about the processor, though. I prefer Intel. AMD's run way too hot in my experience. My last computer was an AMD and that case always felt very warm to the touch.

We've used Dell's pretty much exclusively at work for years also. We have thousands of them.

I ordered a new external HD as mine is getting mighty full. Its only a 70 gig, I bought a 250. I figure I'll use it on the new machine and keep the old one as an archive.

I am having MAJOR headaches with my external HD right now. It's less than a month old even! I hope yours is a million times better than mine. Yesterday it was all I could do to keep myself from beating it to death with a golf club. Only thing that saved it was that the nearest club is out in storage and there is some data on the drive that isn't backed up (and I can't access it to back it up!).

Got a sick kid that startled me awake about an hour ago.
I can't get back to sleep, and I hate tossing and turning, so I got up.
I refuse to make coffee though....I'll go back to bed in a bit.

Oh, I hope all is better soon. Cold or rumbly in the tumbly?

Hopefully it is just a cold, and he will be over it soon. It seems my kids get strep-throat at the drop of a hat. Let's hope it doesn't go that far, though it was a sore throat that woke him up. *sigh* Which resulted in him waking me up cause he couldnt find the medicine.
That's what startled me awake. My older boy has not had to wake me up in the middle of the night for years. And keep in mind that he is taller than I, and his voice isn't cute and sweet right now. Especially with a sore throat.
Poor kid, my reaction to him waking me up probably scared him more than he scared me, LOL.

And with that much adrenaline pumping through me, there was no hope of falling back to sleep.

Wow. Very busy and photographic day yesterday. A friend of mine wanted me to take shots of all hist models (plastic, unfortunately) before they all got trashed (lack of room to store them all). Ended up spending a few hours and over 300 shots. Right pain to get the lighting/exposure right on them - white models against a black background.

Note: Don't ever leave your camera bag in the boot of your car overnight when it's freezing. It takes an hour or so for the condensation to go away.

From there, I went off to another friend who's getting pretty good at photography, but only has one of those Fuji pretend slr cameras. I spent a while showing him all the lenses and letting him play around, and teaching him some stuff.

Then had to drive home 75miles through torrential rain and wind.

Very tiring day. I need more sleep.

Not had chance to process any of the shots. They might appear in the next few days, but many of them are fairly uninteresting....

... which means I'll probably post them anyhow... ;)
