Personnally wound care was my favorite, it is amazing the amount of healing that can occur over a 24 hour period. Growing up with 3 brothers, there was no tolerance of squimishness, so open wounds never bothered me.

I like a girl that can flush an infection and not blink.:p It is really amazing to watch, and feel, that healing process. It is horrible when it doesn't work though. I watched a horse die from a bone infection last year. It started as a simple hoof abscess which is a common horse ailment. POOR wound management lead to the bone infection.

That's so sad especially when it probably could have been prevented.

Hmm.. I had a dream last night that my camera had an "enable infra-red" CF function. It was one of those dreams that's so real I almost beleived it when I woke up!

I was never squeamish, but once you've held your kid down while they are being stitched and the doctor is showing you how deep the wound is I think you can do anything!

That would be awesome! Actually, I think a Fuji SLR has this - meant for forensic investigators etc! (Mind you, maybe I'm dreaming that!)

 Ewwww. It was bad enough for me when my son had to have a small op a couple of years back. He needed a general anasthetic and being with him when he just went to sleep and was wheeled away from me into the operating theater... I thnk the hospital are used to the reaction of parents because the nurse that had escorted us down bustled me back to the ward to wait, talking to me all the way, not giving me any chance to just break down. Being able to go back to him when he came round was just :D:D:D:D:D

Now that would be cool! And it shouldn't be too difficult to implement. All the camera would need to do is move the hot filter away from the sensor. Of course, dust might become even more of a problem then.

OK, so when that happened to me, I wouldn't have looked at the wound at all, except I was talking to my boy while they were cleaning and numbing the wound, and it was just above his eye, LOL.
I ended up nearly passing out, and the doctor ordered me to lie down, LOL. They laid me back on the same bed that my son was on, with my head at the other end. so my poor kid had his forehead stitched while holding on bravely to my ankle  LOL

I'm not squeemish either. :p

Hmmm, yet another story that has a familiar ring. I was asked to leave the E.R. when my youngest was being stitched. It seems the nurses don't like being told that they are mean, spiteful old spinsters  (they made him cry!)

Kids' dad was the squeamish one. Heck, he even passed out when we had our prenup bloodwork done. When josh sliced up his calf and achilles I had to take dad to the car and put him in the backseat, wrap josh's leg with the glass still in it and then bundle him up to put in back with dad to comfort him (take that either way you want) then was the one who was in the er cubicle when glass was removed and stitches put in.
Went that way with each kid and injury. Sometimes we left him home cause he was more of a liability than a help even when blood wasn't involved.
Changing poopy diapers and cleaning up pukey messes was what got me. yech

LOL, Wu! My hubby is pretty good about being a rock in a crisis. Ask him to change a poopy diaper, tho and he turns white, ROFL! He's a trooper tho, he will change the diaper with eyes watering and holding his breath to the point of passing out.
