Not to change the subject (?) but Jaiydann said "Ga" and pointed at me last night *beaming with pride*

That's why I'm going to encourage my Bean to call me wu. I'll get very early bragging rights to being the first name known!

I hear you Jim, I did use my flash but it was attached. I did these in my kitchen, but the light wasn't great. These are crops, the originals look better, lol. I don't have a cord for my flash either so it'll have to do.

just use your regular flash... and coat a bit of card in aluminium kitchen foil with the dull side facing out (not as harsh light that way).... and use that to bounce the flash down onto the subject.... use 1/200sec ISO 100 f/11 (any lower than f/11 and the image will start to look soft due to lens diffraction) and have the flash set on ttl.... press the fel button to lock the flash exposure on a mid tone and the flash should provide enough power to light the subject properly (it will even compensate fore the reflected light) (good for a temporary fix till you get a cord)

Good tip Alan! I'll have to remember that. Macro 101 back in session :) (What! Photography discussion on this thread - never! ;) - but then that's what makes this thread so special over "other" general chat threads - a bit of everything)

Wu - did I see in another thread that you have a new Mac on the way? Woohoo - what you'll do to get the delivery man to call ;) Congrats on the new toy.

You said it Pete! Whew - what a time catching up! I need to spend time catching up in the evenings again. Don't have to try to keep such a straight face then, either. Not been 100% the last few days but feeling better by the minute now.
