Hopefully she has a contract spelling out her rights to use the images and hopefully she can smooth things over with the family.

I missed it and I do love drama:mad:.

I can just imagine you sitting in an armchair pointed out over your front yard. Just make sure there's no loose carpets around, wouldn't want you slipping over in your haste to get to the front door, do we?

Can't wait for the first images...

I'm the most interested in the eye-control focus. Is it difficult to use? I keep picturing in my head, having the shot focused, and moving my eye and it messes up, LOL.

It's pretty easy to set up and use. It only sets the focus point according to where you're looking when you press the shutter button halfway down. You can move your eye around all you want before and after that.

"eye control focus" seems very futuristic!

It arrived about 11 am, not bad considering I ordered it at 8pm on Wednesday.

Canon has actually had that technology for several years now, but I think there have only been two camera bodies they've put it in so far, and both have been film cameras. The Elan 7E and the Elan 2E.

Can't wait to see your shots Mark, have you used this lens before? Just noticed you don't have your gerar listed.

Thanks, Crissa. I haven't used a Canon 50mm before. My gear at the moments consists of my 350D and a Sigma 18-50 f3.5-5.6 zoom which I got in place of the much maligned kit lens. I know some people like to look at the kit but to me, it's the image you get that matters. Hmm. That sounds a bit pompous - it's not meant to be - quite the other way in fact.

I used to use a 50mm on my film SLR's - it was the 'standard' lens when I was buying them. My Olympus OM40 came with a 50mm f1.8 so it's not entirely new territory, but that was manual focus.

Anyway, I've just posted my first shots in Nifty's thread - all comments + criticisms gratefull accepted - I need to get used to shallow DOF again! Sheesh. Focus is so critical!

It's going well. Saving madly for my trip to Scotland. I can't believe it's only 5 months away... coming up fast.

I just wish our economy would boom or the british would go down. The stupid british pound is SO strong right now, it's 2 dollars to the GBP right now. :( STUPID expensive!

I don't even remember the last time I opened photoshop. lol

Theague - good to see you - shame you're so busy!

Personally, I lke the strong pound ;) helps keep our oil prices down a bit (even then we're about 3 times more expensive for a gallon of fuel than the USA), other prices too and it meant buying stuff for my family in the States was reasonable over Christmas. I'm sorry on your behalf though. It's never cheap visiting the UK.

It's too late now.. And it wasn't my good shot. I'll just see what happens next week. I'm very gutted at myself. I'll learn for next time.

I really need to sort out this mount business anyway.

Pete - such a shame you couldn't make it to the club in time - no chance of a late entry via the secretary? It would have been good to get the feedback from the judge.

Some of you asked, so here is my favorite shot from Saturday night.

Gorgeous shot, Becky.

Here is the obligatory duck shot...except with geese cause that's all we have around here.

IMAGE: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y116/skrim/duckshot.jpg

I am actually still not convinced that this lens is worth 1k, more testing tomorrow and Saturday. I'll have to go shoot my bridge for the "real" test, lol. What I have noticed is that the color is better and when I look at my 'curves' setting I always have the slight S, that is something I always had to adjust in the Tammy.

Another shot:
