I knew that I needed at least 2g RAM, and a larger HD than 40gs (which is what I have right now)

SO....this is what I ended up with, basically:

Intel Pentium D Processor 820 with Dual Core Technology(2.80GHz,800FSB)
4GB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz
250GB SATA II Hard Drive (7200RPM)

Looks like a nice system Cat. Here's me with an old Athlon XP 1800+ with 512 ram and 40gig availbale HD space. Have you any idea how green I am right now! ;)

Jim! You're back! How was the trip?

It was a great break, quite restfull but I did have to pay with an exceedingly busy day today. I do have trouble with the heat though, kinda tough on us bald headed Canuck's. ;)
Wore a hat quite a bit.

*YAY* Jim's back! :D

Hey Terri

Jim, good to see you are back safe, how was the trip? Hope yo took lots of shots to share with use :D

I have a fair few images that should be nice but I never shot near as much as I had hoped. The heat had me bushed, woke up early but just could not drag my butt out the door, and by the time I did we were on to various activities. It is tough to always take a camera along when you all end up in the water at the same time. Once the sun set I got way more energy, but that was used in consuming Mojito's, Tequila and Cervasas (read: not condusive to picture taking). :p

I trust all is well with the folk in here, I am not going to read the last 8 days of posts. Seems a bit of shopping is being done (at least a lot of looking). Congrats on the new gear to all who got some.

Terri, you sound like you really need a "purchase fix" real bad, you'd better give in or suffer from withdrawl symptons. ;)
A new lens or two and a tablet would bring a huge smile to your face. (Though not real sure what Hubby's expression might be).

LOL! Luckily for me, hubby doesn't have to help fund this 'fix'. Work bonus and all that :D
The hard part will be making the choice(es)

Glad you had a good time Jim, being pasty myself I don't get along with the sun too much either. Looking forward to seeing some shots of the trip.

Taken under consideration. I am leaning that way. Or the flash tablet combo. Or the flash lens combo. Or..........

Terri, when I was looking for a tablet, most people suggested the smaller 4x5. I went with that and am very happy with it. And you can pick those up for LOTS cheaper.

Save those $$$ for a lens or two!!! :D

That's why my hubby and I have separate computers. I don't share well.

Curt, two years ago..."No house needs more than 1 computer."

Now we have 3 and still have to buy time on the office one to do our PP. It is the newest and has the most memory, 540G I think, we bought an extra hard drive last summer. It is much faster for any photo work.

I really want another one where we can PP simultaneously.

misspix wrote in post #2509471 (external link)
Hmmm, I could almost get THIS (external link)and THIS (external link), not quite tho...

misspix wrote in post #2510049 (external link)
*groan* Look what I just found CLICK (external link)

The Sigma flash unit, both Curt and I have one. I'm still in a learning curve, on this one. (I'm the teacher's pet though;) ) If you get it, don't let the manual scare you, it is a good tool, once you start understanding how all the functions work, and when they will benefit you.

Ooo, but; that tablet...I want one soooo, bad.

Talk to me. Are they as good as they say when it comes to the some of the intracrit PP work like making selections around hair, etc.? My wrist can ache so badly using a mouse, when I PP sometimes, I'm wondering if a tablet would be better. Well that and having the work surface adjusted to my comfort zone versus Curt's, and that ain't gonna happen as long as we only have the one computer to work on for PP.
