Just received my new canon 100-400 lens today. Debated along time whether to get it or the 300 f4 L series lens. I've read on the forums that it is a very sharp lens. I do mostly wildlife. Am going to take it out tomorrow and try it out. Hope I'm not disapointed.

You won't be disappointed at all. I think this is a great lens and is plenty sharp. An all 'round great lens.

Love the optics, hate the ergonomics. You'll have a blast with it. Enjoy and congrats.

Two more hours and it will be day light here. Can't wait. I'm curious to see how much light I'll need if I bump the iso to 1600 and use the image stabilization. I've also read where the push pull design of the lens acts as a dust pump. That worries me some. I guess if it gets to dirty I could always send it to Canon and have it cleaned.
