Ok, so it not a bird of prey, but I am excited to capture such a close shot. I was walking slowly along a marsh and a number of tiny birds were working the shrubs. I had my camera ready and one came to the outside with just enough time to shoot one shot (it was just inside my close focus on the 400.)

Thanks Gary, do you get many flycatchers up your way?

Thanks Joe, it sure does look like the flycatcher, are you sure it is not? We have Phoebes here too and of course they catch flies.

This shot has very good colour and nice detail in the plumage Dennis also it has a good pose and the shot was composed just right along with a good catchlight and exposure on the bird makes this an excellent shot, well done.

Terrific shot, Dennis! Great pose, sharpness and color in that image. Did you use a monopod at 1/160th?

Thanks Ronn, no, it was hand held, but the lens has IS, so that helps alot.

What a great shot! That eye looks awesome. I really like flycatchers. There's something about them, even if they are not the most colorful of passerines. They are so hard to tell apart though!

Isn't that the truth! Not expecting anything and ending up with new finds. Thanks for commenting.
