My 17-85 IS is the ex-walkaround lens.

The 70-200 f/4L is my walkaround lens, and 70mm is wide enough for me.

When I'm hiking, with a rucksack, I'll just carry the camera around my neck, with the 17-40 on it.
Otherwise I usually carry all my lenses in my Lowepro rucksack . . .

For shooting portraits, 17-40/4L and 70-200/4L.

Haven't touched my 50 in awhile... maybe I should.

If I'm shooting events, then 17-40L plus 420EX.... and 50/1.8.

Too much gear...

I generally grab my 50mm 1.4. Seems to be my best lens.

At least 28-75 or 17-85 and 70-300. Sometimes the 12-24, as well. Lately, instead of carrying a bag (I have 3) or backpack, I've been wearing my POTN vest.

I generally have my 1D MkI with EF 17-35 f/2.8L attached. My 24-70 f/2.8L, and 15 f/2.8 will be in the bag plus 580 flash and extra batteries and CF cards. I only carry my 70-200 f/4 and 85 f/1.8 if I feel that the need might arise, but I find that I can get away with this kit 95% of the time. My bag of choice is the Domke F-3X shoulder bag in black ballistic nylon... a very light bag in and of itself, thus helping to keep the weight of the total package down. I have a backpack and another larger shoulder bag for when I need all of my stuff, but for everyday, it's nice to keep it light and simple. If I wanna really lighten the kit, I swap out my 1D for my 10D and the 580 for my 420 flash... but it's just so hard to keep from using my 1D.

The Sigma 30f1.4EX goes everywhere with me; it's always on the body by default. Every other lens supplements it, depending what and where I'm shooting. The 85f1.8, 70-200IS, and 150EX Macro get used around the 30 prime a lot. My favorite walkaround bag is my Tamrac Expedition 5:

I carry all my gear and two or three bodies with me at all times. Then I transfer the specific lenses I need to a smaller bag to use for a particular shoot.

I vary for specific things but for general:

EOS 20D
EF 100mm f2.8 Macro USM
EF 200mm f2.8L II USM
EF-S 10-22mm f3.5-4.5 USM
EF 1.4X II
EF 2X II
EF 17-40mm f4L USM
EF 24-105mm f4L IS USM
Tubes EF 25 II (X2) + EF 12 II (Kenko retired)
Angle Finder C
all in a slingshot 200.

Might add EF 300mm f4L IS USM in a sliplock case.

A macro specific load is:
EOS 20D
EF 100mm f2.8 Macro USM
MT-24EX Macro Flash
MP-E 65mm f2.8 Macrophoto 1X to 5X
EF 1.4X II
EF 2X II
EF 300mm f4L IS USM (sometimes)
Tubes EF 25 II (X2) + EF 12 II (Kenko retired)
Angle Finder C

A minimal load in a Rezo 170 is
EOS 20D
EF-S 10-22mm f3.5-4.5 USM
EF 24-105mm f4L IS USM

If I need to keep the shutter speed up in low light I swap something with the EF 50mm f1.4 USM and/or EF 28mm f1.8 USM.

Sometimes I use a Rover Plus AW and occasionally a Brian's Hot Tub backpacks.

Often have a monopod or lightweight tripod with me.

Depends totally on what I intend to shoot, each subject has its own needs. Birds, indoor sports, motorsports, etc all need a different setup. I do try to carry as little as I can get way with, my back isn't what it used to be.

That's about right, but I'll expand on this for myself:

For wildlife photography I take my 100-400 L IS, my 70-200 f2.8L and a tripod or monopod. I might take my 200mm f2.8L prime too, but usually not. Sometimes I'll bring my 100mm f2.8 Macro as well (but only if I'm expecting to get some outdoor macro shots).

For faire and festival photography, I take my 24-105 f4L IS and my 70-200 f2.8L.

For landscape, I'll take my 24-105 f4L, my 17-40 f4L and my 35mm f1.4L and a tripod.

For outdoor glamour/portrature - 85 f1.2L, 135 f2L and the 28-70 f2.8L.

For general street and people photography - the 24-105 f4L IS, the 50 f1.4 and the 35mm f1.4L.

In the studio - I've got everything at my disposal :)

My bag goes where I go. If I am moving around a track or event (now that is), my 17-40 or 70-200 is in a shoulder bag with me while the rest of my gear is near by in my back pack.
