What exactly is meant when you say 100% crop?

What does 100% crop mean?

I did a search for this and the thread that explains it has missing image links so I can't actually see the examples. I see this a lot and I believe I understand it but can someone just spell it out for me and perhaps show me an example or two?

Thanks

It's when you take your image, make it 100% in PS or another editing program, and cut out a portion of the 100% image. Or, take a cut image that's at 100% files size. Make sense?

Yes I believe that makes sense. So as long as the image is not resized or scaled and is left at 100% then any crop you do is considered 100%. Correct? It has nothing to do with the area or size of the crop?

The whole idea, Robert, is to allow others to see a portion of your image that is at the same resolution as when you view the image on your system at 100% (picture usually much larger than the screen). The cropping is so that you wind up with a file that shows all the detail that's in your image (a portion of it, that is) in a size that will "fit" when pasting into the forum.
