A few months ago someone on an internet forum said they spent three grand on photo equipment and I vaugly recall him mentioning buying a lens that specializes in B&W photography. Does anyone have any clue as to which lens this was?

Lenses simply allow light through. Not sure what that person would have been talking about...

They're either batty, or you aren't remembering what they said correctly. Assuming you mean a lens that records only B&W...or something...

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

It wasn't back in April was it (The 1st for instance)

I wouldn't believe everything you read in Internet forums...

I am remembering correctly, as I am reading it right now and it says "I just bought the Canon 5D and a lens specializing in Black and White photography"

His credibility in photography is somewhat questionable as he has been caught trying to pass off others work as his own so maybe he is just full of it.

Maybe the poster meant that he bought some filters specifically for b&w?

Maybe it was meant a different way. Maybe it was "I just bought the Canon 5D and a lens, specializing in black and white photography"- as in, he'd just bought those, and would be specializing in B&W.

ahhhh. Then it sounds like he is at least unethical, if not criminal, as well as batty.

Working with film I have used colored filters to enhance certain aspects of B/W photography, but a lens is not b/w or color specialized- as CDI says, they simply allow light to pass to the medium used to capture an image.
