I created an unusual hide in the garden today. I'd noticed that when my kids where out jumping on the trampoline that the birds still came to the feeders. So when the kids went in I got my camera out, lay down on the trampoline, zipped up the safety net and waited.

Wood Pigeon. I like these birds but they don't half do big craps on the garden.

Great Tit - I do believe that it is a she.

What a 'novel Hide' Damien, good thinking.
Excellent shots and the colours look very good.

So that's where the big huge lumps come from in my garden and I thought it was my two little dogs. :D

Thanks everyone. I thought maybe the pigeon had something wrong with its eye, but I looked at some other shots of another pigeon and it has the same shaped iris. Wonder why that is?

I'm sure it has something to do with spotting predators. Take the iris of a horse, long and narrow, from front to back. This gives them an almost 360 degree view, so they can spot anything coming up on them.

Thanks Mitch and Nick. I'm thinking that a big beer tent might also work well as a hide. ;)

You would! ;)
Lovely shots, Damian. Did you use 'bounce' flash?
