I was working out of province this past week, so on the way there I stopped by the Sackville N.B. waterfowl sanctuary. My favourite capture there, and incidentaly a first for me wasn't even a waterfowl, but a warbler.

#1 my first sighting and capture of a black and white warbler

#2 another of the above

#3 a common snipe who wouldnt let me sneak closer

#4 a couple of yellowlegs

#5 a very shy juvie sora rail, following this guy to get a clear picture was like chasing a gnat in a pepper storm, nasty little bird.

#6 A dozen yellowlegs in a row.

Good captures Trevor and a first view for me of the black and white warbler. I also like the shot of the two yellowlegs, it has nice composition. A very good shot also of the yellowlegs all in a row, good work, well done.

I don't know how I missed this excellent series of shots before. I love the warbler, never have seen one before, I will be on the look out for one (when I am up north). The Snipe picture is well done, one I have yet to see. The soras and greater yellowlegs will be back to So Calif this winter and you have done a great job of exposures. Well done on all.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have been an amateur(very) birder since I was 7-8 and this continued through my life. When I would sight a bird I never seen before it was exciting, but having browsed bird books for years, I at least had a slight memory of seeing these birds even if I couldnt id them. Well this warbler I can honestly say I didnt ever recall seeing before even though it is in the books, and man what a rush to see a bird land in front of you that you cannot ever remember seeing in person or in a book before. I almost goofed the shots as I was set to AI servo for in flights of ducks, I was having problems keeping the focus on the warbler. But I will never forget that feeling. thanks for looking.
