Great captures and congrats on another 1st.
When I know so little it is easy to go forward. Thanks.

Excellent captures here Dennis ...love the whole series. What a great bird and is it ever focused. Looks like you got pretty low on the angle which is nice. Numbers 2, 5 and 8 are my favourites.
Thanks Gary, I take a portable short stool so I can lay in wait in some confort and be inconspicuous.

I agree with all said above--great series, and the story line made it more enjoyable.
Thanks Marco for you kind remarks.

Great shots !
Whenever I see a bittern, it has already seen me and stands perfectly still with it's beak pointed up. (Either that, or it flys away ).
It's nice to see the action sequence.
What I really like about bitterns and egrets and herons is their intense piercing eyes
Thanks Jim, actually I have never seen the traditional pose, I just noticed the unusual behavior.
Hard to miss those eyes.

Very nice captures, Dennis. I've not seen any shots of a bittern out in the open like this. Just the "hiding in the reeds" pose. Favorites are #4, 5 and 8. But of course, since I have 0 shots like this, I'd take any of them!
Great job!
Ron
Thanks Ronn, It must have lasted 20 minutes or so, the bittern moves very slowly.

I would love to, but I doubt it. My daughter is coming back east this week. Thanks for showing me the birds at San Elijo.
Any time you want to go shooting, drop me a line. I have discovered some other great places as well.

Fantastic bittern series Dennis. Congrats on the sighting. I still have not seen one IRL.
Thanks Fee, this was my first, hope to catch some more.
