If I could trade my 1D and 30D for another 1DMII I would make the trade with Dante in a heartbeat. Hmmmmmm ;)

why not sell the 1D and 30D seperatly..... it should add up about right.

I could, but selling is a pain, I figure I'll keep them for now, maybe something will present itself in the future

Ok folks, need your C&C on this. Its a waterfall from Maui. I posted it in the Travel & Landscapes section. Someone said the water is blown out. Doesn't that happen when you use 1" shutters to get the flowing water effect. Someone else's advice was a much faster shutter, but then no flowing water effect  Anyways, here is the shot for your review

the waterfall is a bit blown out, but its tricky to get the waterfall exposed with any detail and get the much darker foliage exposed aswell. a shorter shutter speed wouldnt help at all i dont think. perhaps a fill flash to light the foliage, and stop down the Fstop a bit more so the waterfall doesnt blow so fast

Morning All,
Just to catch up....

"The 5D has a pathetic .. [Insert x feature here].. compared to some other [Insert allegedly manifestly superior and all powerful camera here]". For example, "the 5D is horrible because it only shoots 3fps and the 1DM2N shoots 8fps". (maybe bad example but I want to avoid pointing out the obviously guilty)

I THINK the 5D IS criminally bum rapped!!! It's the favorite camera I've ever used (though I do miss the speed of the MKIIN and I've not used the DsMKII). I love the results it gives me.

You really think Canon will release a 40D at this point. I really think we will see a 1DsMIIN or something first. The 30D is still so new, they wouldn't replace it yet would they

No, I think they are coming out with a 5D replacement...and a 100-400L replacement (because I recently purchased both and everytime that happens, Canon updates the product)

Or who logs in first instead of getting coffee ;)

I would be on the Have COFFEE FIRST list...

Definitely wrong crowd

QUOTED IMAGE

It is a little blown out in the highlights. Robert Lay told me, when I asked this same question....to expose for the highlights, shoot in raw to adjust the rest and use a polarizer to be able to slow down the exposure some....so you can use a faster shutter speed w/o blowing the highlights...

BTW cat, it's a very beautiful shot. I like it a lot. Just telling you what they say to do when that happens. (The Critique group is a tough lot but they have helped me, for all their toughness)

Thanks for the comments. the exif was F/11, 1", ISO 50. I used a 4x Neutral Density Filter as well which cuts down 2 stops of light, hmmmm
