Here are a some shots from my new 400 F/5.6L. Initial observations are: very light for a 400mm lens. Need to have some light to use it, shutter speeds under 1/500th require extreme steadiness. Great lens, very sharp. I am still partial to the 100-400L due to its IS. Let me know what you think of these shots, all taken on the OG 1D.

Ok come on. Enough torture. By the way, you must be awful steady to get that birdie so sharp at 1/125. It'd be a complete blur with me. I'm awful shakey.

At least I've owned this one before and chose to get rid of it!

I do not drink Coffee, hence the steadiness  Thank you for the comment, sorry for the torture ;)

I got this with the 300 for my B-Day last month, just getting to use it now. That darn job of mine keeps me away from my gear

Congrats on the 400 but I don't see the point of owning this when you have the 300 f/2.8 unless you want a light lens. :)

I use this lens for birds in flight and wildlife on my hikes. I love to hike. The 300 is a bit much to hike with for very long
