Great set of images Keith, well worth investing in the 100 - 400 eh? Starlings is my favourite. I'd have that in a frame.

These are awesome images and to think that they are taken wide at 400mm is truly amazing.

Steven, these aren't with the lens wide open - mine more or less lives at f/7.1 - though I've been trying it at f/6.3 lately with quite satisfying results:

yeah, it's not bad for a lens that some people insist isn't sharp at 400mm - it does a very good job of capturing detail, IMHO.
