Projecting from the heat?

Is there anything I should know about when protecting the camera/lens from the heat. Is it advised?

You mean in the car, in use, stored in the house? Are you in Alaska, New York, Rome, Pago Pago, Marrakesh, Kuala Lumpur? Seriously, the answers will differ depending on where you are and where it's being kept.

Ahh sorry. In use, at Mexico on holiday.

In use - keep it in a bag when you leave the A/C interior (hotel or vehicle) and let it come up to outside temperature for about an hour before taking it out of the bag. The big danger is condensation from the moist air on a cold piece of gear.
