HELP ME CHOOSE!!....which should I take?

Hello everyone...well....I have another dilema. My friend is moving away, and doesn't want to take some of his older camera gear. He is going to sell his stuff, but he has 4 lens that he's going to sell, but has offered me only 1 of the lens for FREE! So, of the 4 lens below...which one should I take? Remeber, I'm not paying for it. but I can only have ONE. Thanks again for all your advice!! I know that they're not the greatest lens, but for free, I can't pass it up.

1. Canon EF 70-210mm F4 w/ Macro
2. Canon EF 100-300mm F4.5-5.6 USM w/ Macro
3. Tamron AF for Canon EF 70-300mm F4-5.6 LD Macro 1:2 Lens w/ hood
4. Sigma 70-300 /f4-5.6 DG Macro

Some one mentioned to me that it's just the LD...not the LD Di.....does that make a difference?....I haven't looked it up yet.

The Di is specifically designed for use with DSLRs preventing flaring and ghosting with the use of extra elements etc...

But I personally think the Tamron might be the best of the bunch you have listed

I bought the 100-300, but the AF was broken, so I now think that lens sucks due to my expiernece...Though USM would be excellent on that zoom range...Sure someone else will you give you some more opinions about the rest of these. Good luck!

Thanks...I must admit i'm surprised that the Tamron would be the choice, but again, i'm a newb, so I'm not as familiar with the lens. Thanks for your input!

is this your budget range?

Well, my friend is letting me choose ONE of the above for FREE.

The Canon is nice. Fast AF and good range but a little soft at 300. It's the best lens if you decide to shoot sports.

The Sigma is also a good lens. I've seen great samples taken by it.

The Canon 100-300, no question. The best compliment to what you already have and one of the best in this range at it's price.

So...safe to assume that I can either pick the tamron or the canon 100-300?

100-300 can be good, but highly varient on the copy you get judging by FM reviews.

Can you take a few photos with each and then decide which you like the best?

I'd take the Canon 100-300. I owned this lens and found it to be acceptably sharp wide open and fast focusing.

100-300 for sure. Great little lens for the price. Nice range, too.
