Well 30D+Bigma and a mission to capture Blue Herons.

I Set the camera on TV mode 5fps AI

This was a big learning curve. Lesson one dont try following at 500mm start at 300mm and then zoom in other wise you get poor focus and they fly past you

There was a group of them in the trees so easier to capture.

Please tell me how to improve esp when shooting moving birds

They do look sharp. Perhaps just a bit underexposed, or that could just be my work monitor.
Remember if you're shooting against a bright background, shoot full manual, and say 1/250th instead of 1/500th. Bring some midlevel details out, and then increase saturation a tad.
:)

The last two looks like loads of contrast.

nice series Tony but there is something about #2 that I cannot put my finger on... possibly the way it was cropped? Seems unbalanced... maybe needs more below the bird...

John;)

I like them, especially #4 and 6. You should be starting to see the migrating birds passing through.

nice shots as always. with #3 the bottom right has some marks that could be cloned out and #4 maybe remove the out of focus branches, they draw the eyes from the subject...

love 5, it's got feeling. and 1 has it too, 1 is a classic serene alone with nature feeling.

i agree with wazza, do your settings in manual. take a reading off something midcast, kinda like using a grey card. if you can see everything without colour and looks at it as shades from dark to light then you'll find something. really it boils down to what you're most comfortable with doing, theres many ways to do it, and which ever one you choose will take practise in different situations, but you'll get it. I think it might be wise for you to build on your own way rather than keeping changing, because you'll be changing all the time instead of mastering your own technique.
