Jacob, welcome to Forums! The colors are great in the shot you posted. I also had a look at our gallery and there are some great pictures. Keep on posting and you will get lot of good response.

This is a really interesting picture.

When it first loaded, I thought it was nothing special, but the more I look at it the better I like it. The big blocks of contrasting shape (concrete versus grass versus sky) and the kind of amazing use of primaries - blue, green and that one, perfectly red line. All with the two symmetrical lamposts.

Very cool, understated picture that gets better the more I look at it.

I agree with Julie - it's a deceptively simple picture, but very effective. If I could be really picky I would suggest tweaking it in PhotoShop to make the two lamp-posts stand upright...

Nice idea - yes I would tweak it in PS - just to indulge yourself.

By the way - RED is always a winner.

thanks for the nice comments!
i'll have to try some lens correction, true. this was shot on a 17-35mm lens on 35mm, so there was bound to be some distortion.
stay tuned for another post in the following days!

next time a blurred moving train/car in one corner could've made this photo amazing.

the contrast (no pun intended) between the serene sky and seemingly empty roads versus a speeding train blurring into the frame could've been really neat.

I looked at the link in your post - there are excellent shots and I would say you know more about photography or art than you're letting on.

The people shots are great - and the abstracts you've taken demand a second viewing.

I am unsure of the macro stuff - I know you can take real life and turn it into models - unsure which way you've gone.

Excellent stuff. Steve

I like the composition and the feeling of it, to my opinion the red line does everything here...

welcome,

Hi Jacob,

Did you get the level horizon and railings on your initial try or did you straighten it out in post processing? For some reason, my pics almost always come out tilted, usually sloping down to the right. Maybe I'm pushing the camera down when I press the shutter. What's your secret?

Thanks, Dennis

i think i rotated it a little in photoshop - it's hard to get a totally straight horizon without a tripod.
