found a blue bug in green..

Cute little bug. A little... small for macro, but you're still learning.

Technically, your lens is only a "macro" lens when it's at it's closest focusing distance. Is that shot a crop? If so, maybe try cropping out some of the leaves.

Good job on the focus. Great first attempt!

A blue leafhopper. Never seen one that color. And I like your composition. The focus could be a little sharper but it's a catchy pic.

It's a nice shot, lovely looking leafhopper. Would be nice to be a bit closer, but it's still a nice shot as is.

I agree with both Brian and Dave.... Lovely shot.... Not quite macro but close enough from my point of view when they look that good:).BTW: Nothing wrong with a little artful composition when shooting macro.... You did that nicely...Alex

Try to go closer. Swtich to Manual focus and move your camera+lens to focus the object. Compose it in the rules of third against a green background. I am sure your shots will look WOW !.
